Refeyn Mass Photometer Acquisition
We recently acquired a mass photometer from Refeyn Ltd. to measure the molecular weight (MW) of single protein and protein complexes in solution. This interference reflection microscopy technology is highly complementary to the Structural MS methods already implemented at ProteoToul Research. Despite being less resolutive and precise than native MS, one main advantage of Mass Photometry is that it operates in solution and is compatible to almost any buffer condition. It only requires 5-20 µL at 100 pM – 100 nM and covers a mass range between 30 kDa and 5 MDa. In terms of applications, it will allow us to determine the purity and stability of protein complexes and to study protein-protein interaction and complex assembly or dissociation over time.
